Abstract:
To study the inhibitory effect of saffron water extract on proliferation of human ovarian cancer cells ho-8910. Human ovarian cancer cells were divided into cell group, low dose group, medium dose group and high dose group. After successful culture, the low dose group, medium dose group and high dose group of saffron water extract were treated with 0.4mmol/L, 0.8mmol/L and 1.0mmol/L respectively, while the cell group was not treated with any treatment. Ovarian cancer cell proliferation and ERK, bcl-2, Bax protein content were detected. The proliferation of 0.8mmol/L extract group at 24h, 48h and 72h (11.11±1.25) %, (9.15±1.33) % and (8.46±1.21) % were lower than that of 0.4mmol/L group (29.45±1.11) %, (27.15±1.21) % and (24.16±1.33) %. The expression levels of ERK, bcl-2 and Bax proteins (63.56±8.55) %, (0.51±0.01) % and (0.91±0.02) % were lower than that of 0.4mmol/L group (81.25±11.25) %, (0.65±0.02) % and (0.71±0.01) %, the differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05), so 0.8mmol/L was the optimal concentration. Saffron water extract can significantly inhibit the activity of ovarian cancer cells and reduce the proliferation capacity of ovarian cancer cells, and the medium dose effect is the most obvious, the mechanism of action may be related to the ERK signaling pathway.
