Abstract:To study the effect of olive oil (OZT) rich in zeaxanthin on aging mice. Subacute aging model of mice was established by subcutaneous injected in the neck 5% D-galactose solution at a dose of 0.5 mL/10g of 6 weeks , the model mice were divided into model group, OZT High, middle and low treatment group, olive oil group (OL) , vitamin E positive (VE) control group. After continuous gavage for 28 days, to investigate the effects of different doses of OZT on body weight, major organ index, serum levels of Superoxide dismutase (SOD) , Catalase (CAT) , Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) , alanine aminotransferase (ALT) , aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and malondialdehyde (MDA) , Interleukin-2(IL-2) , Interleukin-4(IL-4) ,Interleukin-10(IL-10)and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in aging mice. The results showed that all of the OZT could effectively control the body weight of aging mice, decreased the activities of ALT and AST in serum, decreased the activities of SOD, CAT and GSH-Px, and promote the production of IL-2, IL-4 and IFN-γ, the effects of high-dose OZT was significantly better than that of OL and similar to that of VE. OZT has a good therapeutic effect on the subacute aging model induced by d-galactose. It can effectively improve the anti-oxidation ability of mice and enhance the effect of delaying aging.
